If your primary residence could use more insulation in the walls, attic, basement or crawl space, Manitoba Hydro’s Home Insulation Rebate Program will pay for 100% of the costs of the insulation materials so long as you meet Hydro’s qualifications. One of the main qualifications is that the existing R-value of the attic insulation must be R-30 or less.
The amount of the rebate will vary depending on the type and quantity of insulation used for the project, but for many homeowners the rebate can be in excess of $500.00.
An application for the Hydro Rebate can be filled out in as little as 15 minutes with your insulation contractor. The form is then FAX-ed in for approval to Manitoba Hydro.
Approvals are usually granted within one or two working days. After that, the insulation work can proceed.
