Homeowner Insulation Rebates

The main insulation rebate available to homeowners is called the Home Insulation Rebate. This rebate offer is through Efficiency Manitoba and provides rebates for attics, walls, and foundation walls. The first step is you have to find out if you quality. To help you figure out if your insulation project qualifies for this rebate, here is a list of qualifications, and a list of projects that aren’t eligible:

Do You Quality?

  • You’re the homeowner with an active Manitoba Hydro account in your name.
  • The home is your primary residence or the primary residence of your tenant and is occupied year-round.
  • Your home is built before 1999.
  • You haven’t started the insulation work yet, purchased materials, or removed any drywall, stucco, or insulation.
  • Your home hasn’t previously received a rebate for the area you’re applying for.
  • Your contractor or retailer is registered with Efficiency Manitoba.

Projects That Aren’t Eligible

  • Garages, sunrooms, porches, or verandas
  • Seasonal homes, cottages, or cottage conversions
  • Homes that are under construction or renovation
  • Projects that replace existing insulation
  • Apartments, vacation rentals, or outbuildings
  • Converting unheated spaces to heated spaces
  • Projects that are in progress or are already complete
  • Mobile home skirting

As you can see, one of the main qualifiers for this rebate is your home has to have been built before 1999. Of course, we can help you figure this all out. If you want to see the full list of qualifiers, and projects that are not eligible, see the bottom of the Home Insulation Rebate qualifying page.

Before we proceed with anything, we will confirm if you have been approved or not. A pre-verification inspection at your home might also be required. If approved, we can begin to insulate your home. After your insulation has been fully installed and paid for, we will help you complete and submit the final documents. Once these documents have been received by Efficiency Manitoba, they will finalize your rebate and send you a rebate cheque. A post-verification inspection may be required to finalize your rebate amount. It’s that easy when you choose Above All to insulate your home.

Financing Your Insulation Project

In addition to receiving a rebate from Efficiency Manitoba’s Home Insulation Rebate, there is financing available throughManitoba Hydro’s Home Energy Efficiency Loan program. It is recommended that you apply for financing before we start installing insulation in your home. The Manitoba Hydro Home Energy Efficiency Loan (HEEL) is a convenient and affordable financing option. How it works is, the monthly payment is added to your energy bill and no down payment is required. Currently there is an annual interest rate of 7.6% and only a minimum monthly payment of $15. For more information about the HEEL financing program through Manitoba Hydro, and to see how to apply, see their Home Efficiency Loan page.

Other Efficiency Rebates

Above we’ve covered the main insulation rebate for homeowners, but there are other important rebates worth mentioning. The rebates you don’t want to overlook are the First Nation Energy Efficiency Program and the Métis Energy Efficiency Offers because they offer insulation upgrades for Free for eligible homes and communities:

  • First Nation Energy Efficiency Program: When you qualify for this program, your insulation can be upgraded at no cost, so you can save on energy and reduce your monthly bills today!
